Israel’s justification for bombing Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, which killed 21 Palestinians, including five journalists, has been debunked by a Reuters investigation.
Footage of the double-strike attack by Israel on the hospital, the second of which was captured on camera, showed journalists and rescuers on a staircase being directly hit.
Reuters reported that the target of the 45 August strike, which Israel claimed to be a Hamas surveillance device, was a camera belonging to the news agency itself.
The Reuters investigation reviewed visual evidence and interviewed eyewitnesses, establishing that the equipment belonged to its Gaza-based journalist Hussam al-Masri. Al-Masri was also killed in the attack.
