Chief of Staff of the Israeli army Eyal Zamir on Sunday said that his forces had “no intention” of returning to the days before 7 October 2023, Israeli media have reported.
Zamir made the comment while on a tour of the Netzarim corridor in the Gaza Strip.
Speaking with Israeli soldiers on site, he said that the “military campaign is far from over”.
“We must stay alert and ready on defence, and be prepared to resume combat at any moment,” Zamir said. “Two years ago, we experienced the darkest day in our history, and we have no intention of returning to the days before October 7, 2023.”
“The IDF is reshaping the reality across the Middle East. Our military does not merely contain threats, but strikes with force and eliminates the enemy on every front.”
