Qatari security officer killed in Israeli attack on Doha

A member of Qatar's security forces was killed and others were wounded in the Israeli attack on Doha, the country's interior ministry said on Tuesday. 

“Specialised crews are continuing to inspect and secure the targeted area with the explosives division of the internal security forces,” the ministry said.

Israeli air strikes hit Doha, targeting senior Hamas officials who had gathered to discuss the latest US ceasefire proposal for Gaza. Multiple explosions were heard in the city, with smoke seen rising over the Katara district.

The Israeli military confirmed it had carried out the strikes, saying it targeted Hamas’s senior leadership.

Hamas said that its leadership has survived Israeli air strikes, but five members of its delegation were killed, including the son of senior leader Khalil al-Hayya.

Countries including Pakistan, the UAE and Turkey have condemned the attack carried out by Israel against the Hamas negotiation delegation in the Qatari capital, calling it an act of aggression and a brazen violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Qatar.
